National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation and Museology Admission to M.A. and Ph.D. courses

Applications in prescribed form (to be downloaded) are invited from eligible candidates for admission to M.A. and Ph.D. courses for the academic session starting in August, 2011.

M.A. (History of Art) : A Graduate Degree from a recognized University with minimum 50% marks. Desirable - Background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts
M.A. (Conservation) : A Graduate Degree with minimum 50% marks in any of the following subjects -Chemistry/ Physics/ Geology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Computer Science/ Fine Arts/ History/ History of Art/ Architecture / Archaeology/ Museology/ Designing or a Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.
M.A. (Museology) : B.A./B.Sc. (Honours) or B.A./B.Sc./B.F.A. (3 years) with minimum 50% marks in any discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences/Science.
Desirable - Background/ PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum Studies.
Ph.D. (History of Art) : Any person holding a Master Degree with minimum 55% marks. in History of Art from this Institute or Master Degree in History of Art/ History/ Archaeology/ Anthropology / Aesthetics or its equivalent from a recognized University / deemed University
Ph.D. (Conservation) : Any person holding a Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in Conservation from this Institute or Master Degree in Chemistry/ Physics/ Life Sciences/ Museology/ Architecture or its equivalent from a recognized University/ deemed University
Ph.D. (Museology) : Any person holding a Master Degree with minimum 55% marks in Museology from this Institute or Master Degree in Museology/ History/ Ancient Indian History & Archaeology or its equivalent from a recognized University/deemed University.
Desirable Qualifications for both M.A. & Ph.D. courses :
Knowledge o­f one classical/ foreign language such as Sanskrit, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian, etc.
Good academic record with 50% and above marks at Graduate level is essential for admission to M.A. courses and 55% and above marks at Post-graduate level for admission to Ph.D. courses. Those appearing in their last semester/exam of Graduation may also apply for M.A. courses provided they produce the result of having passed their Graduation with requisite percentage by 31-7-2011.
